Started 2007 and initially based in Aceh province to respond to the long-term impact of the 2004 tsunami on children, prior to relocation to Jakarta in 2010, Teman Baik is a local NGO (Yayasan)
Saving Lives
Outreach work is conducted by Teman Baik team members in many zones across the sprawling city of Jakarta. Highly marginalized communities, such as those living alongside dangerous railroad tracks, are provided with a range of lifesaving direct services. Night outreach at hotspots such as bus and transit stations also takes place, particularly supporting the many at-risk youth who congregate on the streets, and a rapid medical response is available for road traffic accidents or other emergencies.
Building Futures
Futures Education:
The teams support families and children to register for, and remain in, public school
Futures Employment:
the Program runs a full mobile outreach Futures Employment project in communities and in government community centers, ensuring that youth and caretakers access gainful and dignified employment through vocational training and internship, provision of soft skills training and psycho-social support, as well as employment advice and placement into employment or self-employment
Family+:
the teams support families in times of emergency and ensure that there is no family separation.
3PC International
The Program coordinates 3PC in Indonesia:
identification and assessment of potential partners, support in close collaboration with the 3PC International team.
Consultancies:
the team conducts large-scale consultancy work in Indonesia with UNICEF, public schools and NGOs
ChildSafe Movement
ChildSafe Agents:
teams identify, train and support the ChildSafe Agents based on the streets and in communities in Jakarta, bringing child protection and support services to all children at risk or in situations of abuse
ChildSafe Campaigns:
the team conducts community trainings and supports local and international businesses to build their child protection systems. In addition, the team provides technical support and training on child protection to NGOs across the country.
