Friends Cambodia

Poipet

This project, started and managed by Friends-International, was launched in 2009 to address the range of issues faced by migrant populations at a major Cambodian/Thai border crossing.

Safe Migration

protecting people wanting to migrate to, and returning from, Thailand

  • The teams provide information and protection from unsafe migration: including campaigns and training
  • Outreach teams operate in local areas to identify and work with prospective migrants and returning migrants to access to safe and dignified employment and stabilize in Cambodia, facilitated through our Futures Employment project

Child Protection

protection from violence and child labor:

  • Outreach teams operate in local areas, including markets, to protect children from child labor and exploitation. They also provide general protection services (health care, counseling…)

  • The Project operates a Drop-in Center providing non-formal education, hygiene services, and counseling as well as employment information and support (using the Futures Employment model)

  • ChildSafe Agents: the team develops and supports a team of ChildSafe Agents on both sides of the border in collaboration with local partners
  • Hotline: the Program runs the Aranyaprathet ChildSafe Hotline, in both Thai and Khmer languages

3PC International

the Program is an active member of 3PC International and the 3PC Cambodia network

ChildSafe Movement

ChildSafe Campaigns: the team provides information to children, local citizens (in both Thai and Khmer) and local businesses on child protection and the ChildSafe Movement
