ChildSafe Hotline Helps In Search For Missing Young Woman
On Thusday 19th July, Mot Srors, an 18 year old woman from Lor village in the Samroung Tong District of Khompong Speu Province, Cambodia went to the Thnal Torteng Market in the District. She went there by motorbike, driven by another young woman who worked at the same shoe factory where Mot Srors was team leader.
Around 12 o’ clock her friend returned. Alone.
Mot Srors had disappeared , and her friend could not confirm what had happened, so since then her worried family have been increasingly concerned for her safety. They believe that she may have been trafficked.
Our Cambodian ChildSafe Hotline team have now become involved in the search for this young woman. They have already posted a missing person announcement in all the Friends-International zones. They have also contacted the Khmer station of Australian broadcaster ABC radio to broadcast the situation country-wide. Despite these efforts, there is still to date no sign of Mot Srors.
The ChildSafe Hotline operates 24/7 in Phnom Penh on 012-311-112 to respond to calls relating to all child protection issues. If you are here in Cambodia and have any information on this case, or indeed wish to report any instance of a child or young person at risk then do please call the hotline on the above number.
