Phalla in Pattaya (but mostly Bangkok!)
Ms. Phalla Nao is Mith Samlanh Saving Lives Coordinator, based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. She has been a long time with the program, nearly 22 years, mostly in the field. This means she has unsurpassed knowledge and experience of the huge range of challenges that individuals and communities face on a daily basis.
Last week, Phalla made the journey from Cambodia to Thailand as she had been invited to participate in the Feminist Finance Forum supported by UNESCAP and held in Bangkok from May 7th -9th. Phalla spoke on the panel addressing ‘Building Women’s Savings Through Community-Based and Grassroots Financial Services’.
Over the duration of the Forum Phalla also had the opportunity to share her key insights with a range of delegates including those from government and corporate sectors, the private sector, donors, and also some of the Thai beneficiaries.
To round off her busy time in Thailand, she set off (with ChildSafe driver!) to visit the Peuan Peuan program in Pattaya, to get a sense of the particular challenges that the program is facing in this tourist hotspot, and once again to share her wealth of experiences with the team there!
