Friend’s Sebastien in WEF TV debate on tourism impact
The World Economic Forum (WEF) in Bangkok is certainly in the news at the moment, and amongst the many issues that delegates will be discussing and debating is the impact of the massive expansion of tourism in Asia, and South East Asia in particular. During the WEF a debate on this subject ( ‘What is the role of the travel and tourism industry in ASEAN integration?’) will be recorded and broadcast next week by German international television channel Deutsche Welle. Panelists will include our own founder and Executive Director Sebastien Marot, alongside MárcioFavilla Lucca de Paula, Executive Director, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Madrid, S. Iswaran, Second Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore, Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman, Jumeirah Group, United Arab Emirates and Mari ElkaPangestu, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia. Sebastien will be particularly focusing on the impact of tourism upon those most vulnerable, the children of the region, in particular marginalized groups such as children in residential care (orphanages) and street children.
