M’lop Krousar movie night
The team at the M’lop Krousar center in Phnom Penh hosted its first event on the 24th of January for children and youth from the nearby community. Around 200 children and youth came along to the center for a movie night, where they got to hear about the center and also enjoy a movie, which would not have been complete without movie snacks! The younger children giggled their way through a cartoon while the older youth watched a Jackie Chan film. They were thirsty for information about drugs and reproductive health and shown great interest in joining future information sessions about these topics.
Around 20 mothers also came along and while some were supervising their kids, others were able to talk to staff over coffee.
The M’lop Krousar Center opened late last year and provides support to parents to encourage them in the exercise of their parental responsibilities (from prenatal to adolescence) by giving them access to information services, counseling and referral systems.
