Mith Samlanh students taking the stage for the Cambodian National Popular Art Contest
On February 10th 2011 the actors, cultural team and Director of Mith Samlanh were invited to join the opening ceremony of this year’s National Popular Art Contest.
On Monday February 21st from 9am to 10am, all of the hard work perfecting the script and rehearsing will come to fruition. 27 students from Mith Samlanh aged between 15-24 years of age will take center stage to show their talents in a drama performance at the Chaktomuk Theater.
It is a great honor for the students and Mith Samlanh team to participate in this challenging nationwide competition which reflects the scope and diversity of young Cambodian talent. 270 artists/performers spread across 52 teams from 32 organizations will come together from across the country to participate in the contest.
Our 27 talented performers will perform a drama titled “Whose Mistake?” in which topics such as domestic violence, migration, drugs, child exploitation and rehabilitation will addressed in the forty minute production.
The key messages that our artists want to put across during the play are:
• Domestic violence – how it effects child development.
• Reality and risks associated with migration.
• Health and development risks associated with drug use.
• Preventing domestic violence for a better future.
• Using humor to reach the audience on these sensitive, but important issues.
So, please join us at the Chaktomuk Theater between 9am and 10am on February 21st and be part of an effort to help change things for the better in Cambodian society. By attending you will be supporting and having fun along with our young performers while they deliver some very important messages.
We hope to see you from the stage. Thank you!
