Jubilate Choir performing at the Church of St.John the Baptist, Paris, France
We at FI are fortunate that we have fantastic support offices and wonderful volunteer supporters across the world. Fiends France recently organised an amazing event to raise both awareness of and funds for FI. On 15 June, in the magnificent surroundings of the Church of St.John the Baptist, Neuilly sur Seine, the internationally renowned Jubilate Choir performed a selection of some of the best loved choral pieces in the world under the direction of Christian Ciuca. Included were works by Verdi, Borodine and Mendelssohn, and the awe-inspiring finale of ‘Carmina Burana’ by Carl Orff.
“The concert was a beautiful experience” explained Denis from Friends France, “it was a very nice moment, which gave us the opportunity to speak to over 300 people about Friends.”
In attendance was the Lao Ambassador to UNESCO and the first Secretary of the Indonesia Embassy, countries where FI currently runs programs. “They were both very nice, positive people and pleased to have come. It has been a terrific amount of work for us and also for the “Choeur Jubilate” team. Everyone did a fantastic job.”
During the course of the evening Denis explained to the crowd how the sale of one toy elephant can provide five days of schooling for the child of the producer. He cheerfully added “we sold all our elephants!”
Our congratulations and thanks to Friends France for organizing such a wonderful event.
