Friends on Wheels
Mith Samlanh was buzzing even more than usual this week, as everyone eagerly anticipated the arrival of our ‘Friends on Wheels’, Aziza Horsham and Jorma Bosch.
Aziza and Jorma, who are from the Netherlands, have been on the road across Europe and Asia these last 18 months, cycling (and walking!) to support the work of Friends-International and Mith Samlanh. They have had an amazing journey (you can view the map on their website here) and are also well on the way to their target of raising $15,000 for Friends-International from their trip.
Everyone in the centre wanted to come and meet and thank them, and after a welcome speech from Mrs. Map Somaya (Didi), the director of Mith Samlanh, everyone in the assembled throng also wanted to have their photos taken with Jorma and Aziza!
More questions about their trip followed, and some funny stories about their experiences (Only two punctures during the trip? Amazing!), then just before a brief tour around the centre, our ‘Friends on Wheels’ were presented with their very own brick picture of a Cambodian temple, which will take pride of place in Mith Samlanh in recognition of their great achievement and contribution to our work.
After a little breathing space, it will be back in the saddle for Jorma and Aziza as they set off again to complete their adventure. Our deepest thanks and good wishes go with them, we were all so happy to have had the chance to meet our ‘Friends on Wheels’!
