Access to Education

Out-of school and working children in Siem Reap are highly vulnerable to violence and sexual abuse, trafficking, conflict with the law and engaging in risky situation. To address the urgent needs of marginalized children and youth and reintegrate them back to society as productive citizens, Friends-International annually provides protection and prevention services to approximately 2,000 children and youth in Siem Reap; on the streets, in disadvantaged communities and inside Government run rehabilitation centres.

The Siem Reap Education program supports over 300 children per year to reintegrate into public school and provides remedial education to an average of 150 children per day in its Education Centre. The remedial classes aim to reintegrate street children into the public school system and improve access to education for other vulnerable children so they can realize their right to education.
