{"id":3058,"date":"2012-10-01T01:24:25","date_gmt":"2012-09-30T18:24:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.friends-international.org\/blog\/?p=3058"},"modified":"2014-04-22T09:55:35","modified_gmt":"2014-04-22T02:55:35","slug":"our-students-open-up-about-working-with-marum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/index.php\/our-students-open-up-about-working-with-marum\/","title":{"rendered":"Our students open up about working with Marum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As our students and teachers were busy preparing for the opening of <a title=\"Marum Restaurant Homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/tree-alliance.org\/our-restaurants\/marum.asp?mm=or&amp;sm=ma\" target=\"_blank\">Marum<\/a>, we took them aside (very quickly!) to ask them what is was like serving customers during the restaurant\u2019s soft opening and how they think training with <a title=\"Marum Restaurant Homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/tree-alliance.org\/our-restaurants\/marum.asp?mm=or&amp;sm=ma\" target=\"_blank\">Marum<\/a> will help them in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Marum, the new <a title=\"Kaliyan Mith\" href=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/wherewework\/cambodia.asp#kaliyanmith\" target=\"_blank\">Kaliyan Mith<\/a> training restaurant, is part of the <a title=\"TREE Alliance Homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/tree-alliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">TREE Alliance<\/a>, powered by Friends-International.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pann Phut<br \/>\n<\/strong>My name is Pann Phut (male), I am 18 years old and I live in community around the Angkor temple. I have worked as a construction worker. Now I am training in the Marum restaurant, I am so happy when I meet with real customers but so afraid in the first time. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My favorite dishes are number 10 (Khmer seafood coconut rice cake with palm wine vinaigrette) and 18 (Roasted duck and pumpkin croquettes with orange and hoisin sauce). In Marum I see things that I never saw before and I can learn a lot of things from my practice. I was a scavenger at garbage dump site. When I come to train at Marum it seem different from what I expected. I am afraid but happy.<\/p>\n<p>In the Marum menu I like so much number 10 (Khmer seafood coconut rice cake with palm wine vinaigrette) and 15 (Cambodian green papaya salad with crispy sun dried beef). When I start to meet real customers at the first time, I am so afraid and happy.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite dishes are number 21 (Barbeque pork spare ribs with fresh apple) and 24 (Kor Ko \u2013 A stew of local vegetables with river fish wontons and Marum leaves). My parents are famers. Sometime I just at home do nothing.
