EGYPT
In Egypt Friends-International is working with the NGO FACE, providing support, training and advice to help them establish new services for street children in Cairo, Egypt. FACE had visited Friends-International projects in Cambodia and wanted to work with Friends-International to replicate parts of the Friends-International project model in Egypt.
The project is designed to reintegrate street children back into their families, into public school or employment and into their culture.
As with projects in other countries, Friends-International works closely with UNICEF. In 2008, Friends-International conducted a rapid assessment of the existing street children facilities in Cairo on the request of UNICEF Egypt. An assessment report was prepared by Friends-International including some recommendations to UNICEF on how to improve the NGOs services to street children. As a result of this report, Unicef has asked Friends-International to assist and provide capacity building to 5 NGOs working with street children in Cairo.
Friends-International’s partners in Egypt are part of the CYTI Alliance.
