On a balmy Monday afternoon, February 28th, Mith Samlanh proudly launched its NFE (Non Formal Education) Tool Box educational kit at Romdeng Restaurant in Phnom Penh. The Tool Box is a tool for primary school teachers, presenting activities in 3 fields: literacy, mathematics and science. The project was created by Mith Samlanh, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and with technical support provided by Friends-International. Financial assistance came from the European Union and the Catholic Committee against Hunger and for Development.<\/p>\n

H.E. Tun Sa Im, Undersecretary of the State of Ministry of Education said, \u201cMith Samlanh is a leading NGO working with marginalized children, their families and communities. With their initiatives in education, it has been shown that Mith Samlanh has been actively involved in the \u2018Education for All\u2019 policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia, especially the three policies set by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport \u2013 (1) Equitable Access to Education Services, (2) Quality and Efficiency of Education Services, and (3) Institutional Development and Capacity Building for Decentralization.\u201d She added, \u201cThe Tool Box will help involve students in class activities, avoid student absence, class repetition, and school drop-off\u201d.<\/p>\n

Program Director of Mith Samlanh, Ms. Map Somaya, spoke on behalf of students and teams at Mith Samlanh gratefully thanking all supporters, donors and partners who had been very supportive and cooperative in working for a better future for vulnerable children and youth, their families and communities. She thanked the European Union, Catholic Committee against Hunger and for Development, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and Friends-International for all of the collaboration, financial and technical support which had made the Tool Box possible.<\/p>\n

The Tool Box is available for educational use and can be reproduced by teachers, but we do request that Mith Samlanh, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Friends International, European Union and the Catholic Committee against Hunger and for Development need to be credited.<\/p>\n
