Ensuring that children can access their right to education, and can be supported to stay in school is of vital importance to building their futures in a sustainable manner. At these events, we distributed educational materials to children who will be starting public school in November.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5353\" src=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0981-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"KMSRP School 2\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0981-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0981-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_0981-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>First up,\u00a0 on 19th October we held an event at our center in Taksen T&#8217;bong. There, 65 students were provided with books, pens and pencils, bags and uniforms.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5354\" src=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1014-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"KMSRP School 3\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1014-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1014-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1014-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some children were also given bicycles to help them to travel to school. Not only were 45 proud parents in attendance at the event, but also the Kaliyan Mith Program Director, the School Directors, the Commune Chief and representatives from the Department of Education were all present to see the handover ceremony.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5355\" src=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1057-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"KMSRP School 4\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1057-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1057-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1057-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1984277240\"><span class=\"aQJ\">20th <\/span><\/span>we held a similar event at our centre in Chong Kneas community. Around 30 new students received gifts of the essential educational materials that will help them with their studies. This event was also attended by parents,\u00a0Education sector officials and the Commune Chief.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-5356\" src=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1099-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"KMSRP School 5\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1099-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1099-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/friends-international.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_1099-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In total, Kaliyan Mith will distribute &#8216;back to school&#8217; packs to 1,280 children across Siem Reap. These bags, books, pens and uniforms (which have been generously provided by our great supporter Smart Communications) are an important factor in ensuring that vulnerable children have all the resources they need\u00a0to be able to\u00a0attend (and stay in) education. &#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There is more to come too &#8211; reintegration ceremonies will also take place in Phnom Penh in the near future, again with the valued support of our friends at Smart!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>School reintegration is one of the most important education-based functions that Friends-International programs perform.
