Dear friends of Friends<\/p>\n

Please join us in looking back at just a very few\u00a0of the highlights of\u00a0twelve months during 2016, saving lives and building futures!<\/p>\n

JANUARY – ChildSafe is a runner-up in the finals of the UNWTO World Tourism Awards<\/a>, and 3PC partners were really busy with trainings and partner meetings<\/a><\/p>\n

FEBRUARY – following an earlier fact-finding visit to Friends, the issue of sham orphanages in Cambodia goes political in Australia<\/a>\u00a0and in Europe our friends in Friends France organized a great fundraising event<\/a><\/p>\n

MARCH – in Bangkok, Thailand, preparations were well under way on new training restaurant Khanun<\/a>\u00a0and we all enjoyed the many talents of the Mith Samlanh students in the first of their quarterly shows<\/a> for the year at Club Friends in Phnom Penh<\/p>\n

APRIL – We learned how beauty training is building a future<\/a> for one young woman, and all about our newly launched initiative, ‘Futures’<\/a><\/p>\n

MAY – We caught up with the Friends\u00a0team in the teeming city of Jakarta<\/a>, and celebrated the launch of a new TREE Alliance restaurant in Myanmar<\/a><\/p>\n

JUNE – We presented to a ‘Community of Good Practice’<\/a> in the Congo, and had lots of creative\u00a0fun fundraising with Lego<\/a> in Phnom Penh<\/p>\n

JULY – EXO foundation became\u00a0the first ChildSafe certified<\/a> global tour operator, and 3PC were out and about training in communities<\/a> across Cambodia – we also said ‘hello’ to Pook Look<\/a><\/p>\n

AUGUST – we worked with a young Australian filmmaker on this great awareness-raising video<\/a>\u00a0about orphanages and signed collaboration agreements<\/a> with the Thai authorities for \u00a0even better collaboration on child protection<\/p>\n

SEPTEMBER – Big changes and new initiatives were in the news from Siem Reap<\/a>, and we highlighted some great work from Peuan Mit in Laos<\/a> certifying ChildSafe agents<\/p>\n

OCTOBER – We welcomed some new faces among our young Chinese supporters<\/a>\u00a0and looked in on Friends Indonesia program<\/a>\u00a0once again<\/p>\n

NOVEMBER – we caught up with some of the many\u00a0ChildSafe achievements<\/a> over the year, in writing and also onscreen in this\u00a0great video from Wild Asia<\/a>\u00a0– and check out Emmanuelle from Friends Suisse<\/a> receiving their award at the WTM in London<\/p>\n

DECEMBER – we learned how food can build futures<\/a>, and left the year by looking forward to our achievements to come<\/a> in 2017!<\/p>\n
