2024, the thirtieth year of Friends-International, is drawing to a close. Let\u2019s spend just a little time scratching the surface of the incredible activities of our #everydayheroes over the past twelve months!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our year began with fruitful news<\/a> from Siem Reap, plus the sound of drums under the canopy<\/a> at Mith Samlanh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

February brought us two stories of young women at risk who were supported by our programs. One young mum\u2019s journey<\/a> away from the streets of Phnom Penh, and another young Laotian woman rescued from trafficking<\/a> through our cross border initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On into March, where celebrated Women\u2019s Day with a great video compilation<\/a>. We also talked about child protection advocacy and responsible volunteering with overseas students<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

April started out with an exchange visit between Thailand and Cambodia<\/a>, and we also met young Adi<\/a>. We learned how support from our Jakarta team was turning things around for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During May we caught up on the great work of the Peuan Peuan Pattaya team<\/a>, and our Thailand team also had a royal opportunity<\/a> to share their fantastic work! We saw vocational training in action in Laos<\/a>, then onto June and training time<\/a> in child protection for ChildSafe partners. Plus a special campaign in partnership with France Volontaires<\/a> was launched!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July, Laos  hosted a very special visitor<\/a> to their program, and our #everydayheroes in Thailand ensured a good outcome for a mum and baby<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So to August, and the start of one year of celebrations as Friends turned 30<\/a>! This post showed us how experience counts<\/a>! Moving into September, we caught up with student volunteers in Indonesia<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October, there was lot\u2019s going on! It was time to reopen businesses<\/a>, for an award for the Thailand team<\/a>, a celebration of \u2018back to school\u2019<\/a> plus a special article<\/a> on our 30-year journey!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

November, and Friends Cup<\/a> highlights were shared of this fantastic community event, plus some amazing reconnections<\/a> with those we\u2019ve worked with were recognized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then to December, where we learned of one former student\u2019s journey<\/a> to becoming a trainer, and celebrated impact and achievement<\/a> along with our Kaliyan Mith team!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we mentioned, this is just a tiny nutshell of the range of work we do at Friends-International.
