Phnom Penh, Cambodia Friends-International and Silk Air recently launched the start of their new partnership in Singapore. As part of its 20th Anniversary celebrations, Silk Air has selected Friends-International as the NGO that they will support. This exciting collaboration will give Friends-International the support of the regional airline for the next 3 years.

As well as providing exposure to travelers in the region with information about Friends-International and its services for marginalised children in its magazines and in-flight entertainment, the airline will support FI by providing air tickets at reduced costs for related work travel, therefore reducing Friends-International’s operating costs. Silk Air will also support FI with offering to freight items around the region free of charge.

Silk Air will also offer 2 scholarships for students at Mith Samlanh in Phnom Penh to study English and then become teachers at Mith Samlanh themselves.

Executive Director, Sebastien Marot spoke about Friends-International and its work to a group at the National Library of Singapore, where the launch was held. The response of the public was exciting with many questions about Friends work and importantly questions about what people can do to become involved and help!

Sebastien was interviewed on ‘PrimeTime’ morning television on Channel News Asia, which is shown in 23 countries around the region, and interviewed by the largest free newspaper in Singapore ‘Today’ so no doubt a few more people are now aware of the great work Friends-International does!

This was a great event and a really exciting opportunity to put Friends-International on the map in a very strategic city in the region and on a regional level.
