EMPLOYMENT

Working with Friends-International is fun, challenging, and most of all, rewarding. We work hard to improve the lives of the children, youth and families in the communities where we work. We believe that our actions should have a positive impact on the people we work with - families, communities, governments, NGOs and businesses.

Our Head Office is located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia but we have staff working in all corners of the globe. We have 16 different nationalities on our team!

If you want to be part of a team that works together, building futures, have a look at our list of current vacancies or think about becoming a volunteer.

Important note:
All staff and volunteers at FI must comply with our Child Protection Policy and undergo a police security check prior to employment.

Only local staff have direct contact with children and youth. International staff and volunteers at FI work with our local staff to increase their skills and capacity to provide the best practice services for the children.

VOLUNTEERING

We love to have volunteers come and work with us! We often advertise volunteer positions on our website, but if you have a particular skill that you think we could use, please send us an outline of your ideas and explain how you can help us.
Please keep in mind that we prefer to have volunteers for a minimum of three months and we do not provide any financial assistance to volunteers.
If you are interested in spending some time working with us as a volunteer, please read our volunteering conditions or contact hr@friends-international.org .

We are always in need of volunteers with expertise in a wide range of different areas. Here are some of the volunteers we are looking for right now:

  • Social workers
  • Database specialists
  • Journalists
  • Copywriters
  • Finance and Administration specialists
  • Researchers (to conduct research into street children etc)
  • Graphic designers
  • Film makers (for short movies)
  • Web developers
  • Chefs (able to train students and staff)
  • Vocational skill specialists and trainers (mechanics, hair dressers and beauticians, welders, electricians, electronic devices repairers...)

A word about ‘Voluntourism’

If you decide to volunteer for an organization working with children in any country around the world, please make sure that the organization has policies and procedures in place to protect children. Some organizations allow volunteers to have direct and unsupervised access to children, without doing any background checks. This increases the chance of children being taken advantage of or abused.

We do not think that orphanages are a tourist attraction, they are homes for children to feel safe and cared for, not open for tourists. If you really want to help these children, find a good organization that is providing effective support and make a donation to them.
